This series has been born from a collective love of coffee in the production team at Dig Brew Co. as well as a long term research project of the owners undertaking surrounding his grandfather’s experiences during his nation service in Germany in the early 1950’s. During this time, as the world’s supply chains were beginning to be rebuilt following WW2, it was common place for Bierkellers across Germany to all have their own in house coffee roaster - supplying the foreign troop’s thirsts for coffee in the mornings and beer in the evenings.
This beer has been made in collaboration with Quarter Horse Coffee Roasters in Birmingham. A single origin coffee from Hacienda Sajonia El Cuban, El Diablo in Nicaragua was roasted and added directly to the beer during its cold condition. This limited batch of bottles is the first iteration before the later release of what is currently ageing in bourbon and scotch whisky barrels.
